There was chaos at Bungoma County Assembly after a section of MCAs engaged in a shouting match as they debated the ouster of Majority Leader Florence Wekesa.

It wasn't clear what the cause of the fracas was, as the Nation reported that Wekesa's inaction against corruption was the cause of the disagreement while Citizen TV stated that the MCAs were arguing over alleged misappropriation of Covid-19 funds.

MCAS had proposed Tuuti/Marakaru ward MCA Joseph Juma Nyongesa to take over as the majority leader replacing Wekesa.

In a video clip seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the legislators are heard engaging in a shouting match as one shoves the other.

"Keep ODM out of your mouth," one leader is heard asking to which Wekesa responds, "What will you do?"

The Majority leader is pushed away by one of her colleagues to avoid a fight from breaking out.

All this while, their male counterparts stayed a safe distance avoid engaging with the quarrelling parties.

Here is the video:

When interviewed by a local publication, Wekesa maintained that she had conducted her duties efficiently adding that the impeachment motion against her was a witch hunt.

She stated that the members who wanted her out viewed her as an obstacle for them to achieve their selfish interests.

Wekesa affirmed that she was still the leader of a majority at the moment and would serve Ford Kenya well and ensure that the party grows.
