Months after his firing from Mediamax Network Limited-owned K24 TV, former anchor Ahmed Bhalo has bounced back with a managerial job at a real estate company with investments in Dubai.

In an exclusive interview with Kenyans.co.ke, the soft-spoken anchor disclosed that he had bagged the position as the head of marketing at Richland Properties Limited ran by Rishad Ahmed, a former national deputy party chairman of the Democratic Party (DP) associated with former President Mwai Kibaki.

Bhalo revealed that he got the job at a pivotal point in his life after enduring a tough time brought by the Covid-19 pandemic from his previous job, an aviation college stationed at Wilson Airport.

"I worked there for a month and a half [at the aviation college]. Because of Corona, I saw there was no work so I left. I joined Richland Properties on June 15. I have spent approximately three weeks at my new station.

"I am excited about my new job where I head the marketing department to strengthen the brand. I have been working on social media including Facebook and Instagram and will include an offline strategy in the future, he stated.

Richland Properties has its main office in Nairobi with branches in Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru and investments in Dubai.

Rishad, the Managing Director, disclosed that the company has a background of several properties around the country and beyond and has developed a top-notch strategy to cushion its 32 employees from the economic downturn brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Unlike other companies, none pf our employees have been fired. We have properties we manage in Kileleshwa, Lavington, Nakuru, Mombasa and are making inroads in Kisumu. We have a unique technique in which we guarantee our clients (who are owners of the building Richland manages) a payout on a day of their choice regardless of whether the tenants will have paid or not," he told this writer at his office in Nairobi.

Rishad, is a veteran politician who worked with Kibaki before running for the Lamu West MP where he was unsuccessful.

Bhalo, on the other hand, after his firing from K24 TV, he landed a job at Alpha Aviation College where he stayed for two months before leaving after things did not work out for him.

Bhalo was among 160 Mediamax Network Limited employees who received termination letters, a month after the Kijabe Street-based media company gave notice of mass firings.

The lay off involved some of the institution's highly salaried workers as well as all editors and senior news reporters.

They included News Anchor Mwanaisha Chidzuga, Managing Editor, Kiswahili, Franklin Wambugu, Deputy Managing Editor Ali Mtenzi, Head of sports Torome Tirike, Tony Timase (Head of Business) and Senior Reporter Frankilin Macharia.
