Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Chairman, Francis Atwoli, warned Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and Tanga Tanga politicians that Deputy President William Ruto would betray them if he becomes President in 2022.
Atwoli spoke at the burial ceremony of Mama Hannah Atsianzale on Saturday, January 9, in Vihiga County. The deceased is the mother of Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Moses Mudavadi.
The trade union leader argued that Ruto was openly disrespecting President Uhuru Kenyatta and needed to be tamed.
"When Ruto becomes President, you, Moses Kuria, will be the first prisoner," Atwoli said.
He then addressed Kenyatta who attended the burial, urging the head of state to crack the whip by pushing out rebellious members of Jubilee party.
Atwoli argued that Ruto was working against Kenyatta's ambitions and leading a campaign opposing the president's agenda.
He referenced the newly formed United Democratic Alliance (UDA), a party linked to Ruto and which has attracted Jubilee politicians allied to the DP.
Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, on Friday, said that Ruto's allies were ready to quit Jubilee for the wheelbarrow party as they had been frustrated by politicians who were supporting the President.
Atwoli added that Ruto had also claimed that the Building Bridges Initiative was derailing the Big 4 Agenda.
"I voted for your father (Mzee Jomo Kenyatta - Kenya's first President) in 1969 and he was a strict leader. I want you to come out and be serious like him. Your deputy is opposing two projects, BBI and Big 4 Agenda yet he claims to be your assistant.
"We are supporting you yet you can't come out and defend your lieutenants. Even Peter Kenneth (former Gatanga MP) has been labeled an outcast in his own region (Mt Kenya) just because he is your ally," Atwoli lamented.
He pushed Jubilee to enforce the party's constitution in regards to disciplinary measures taken against rebellious politicians and urged Kenyatta to kick Ruto out of the party.
Ruto, on January 6, lamented that he was aiding the President with development projects as Kenyatta's close allies campaigned for the BBI.
"After BBI ends, we shall focus on projects and complete them. BBI has its owners. I want to assist the President in ensuring that Kenyans have water and electricity," Ruto said while speaking at a funeral service in Manyatta, Embu County.
