UPDATE Sunday, May 2: Comedian Jemutai Chibambe fired back at her alleged deadbeat baby daddy Professor Hamo.
In a statement that has since been deleted, Jemutai refuted Hamo's claims noting that she has only ever received Ksh 9,000 from the show host's wife.
"The last time Hamo saw the children was in October last year before he moved out. (Since) then, he has only appeared in my house four times all at night," she stated noting that the last time he contributed on the rent was October 2020.
She further warned Hamo to be truthful as she could reveal more, including recordings that allegedly show that the comedian was violent towards her.
“Hamo kindly note that I am withholding so much from the public including the day you were violent I have all the recording of you apologising to Abner. Accept you have failed as a father and you are ready to better. Better do better,” she said in a statement which she later pulled down.
Herman Gakobo Kago, popularly known as Professor Hamo, has broken his silence after fellow Churchill Show comedian, Stella Bunei Koitie, known by her stage name Jemutai Chibambe, accused him of being a deadbeat dad.
Jemutai, in a statement on Saturday, May 1, accused the radio host of fathering two children with her and later neglecting them.
In a statement made on Sunday, May 2, Hamo refuted the claims and insisted that he was providing for all his children.
In the statement, he explained that he had worked out a plan with his wife who sends upkeep money for the children he sired out of wedlock.
"I have children who live with me and others who don't live with me. I have been providing for my children from day one and there's no day they went without food or shelter or anything they need.
"My wife is the one who sends upkeep for the children who don't live with us. This has been the agreement between my family and the mother of the children," explained Hamo.
He also noted that he was disappointed in the manner in which Jemutai handled the situation noting he was not ready to take part in the public showdown.
"I believe children deserve a quiet growing atmosphere and it's inhuman to expose them to ridicule from their friends in school.
"I wish to continue protecting my children by safeguarding their privacy and not engaging in any mudslinging," he added.
Jemutai brought the revelations to the fore after she admitted to struggling to make ends meet and surviving on debts.
She had even reached out to blogger Edgar Obare seeking to sell her Facebook account for Ksh1.7 million which enable her to clear her debt including rent arrears.
"I am a mother of two and a comedian. Life is becoming hard every day and I have lots of arrears. I want to sell my Facebook account to anyone in business. It has over 850,000 followers. I am selling at Ksh2 bob per follower," Jemutai pleaded.
"I want to be able to start a business and take care of my children. I know it is was a desperate move but I wanted to pay my bills. As a mother I would do anything for my kids," she posted on her social media pages.
The comedian, emcee and social media influencer added that she has been struggling to feed her kids and pay bills on her own.
