Police have launched a hunt for a mysterious woman believed to be behind a spate of murders involving two lovers in Mtwapa, Kilifi County.

A report by Daily Nation on Tuesday, June 1, indicated that the police are looking for the unidentified woman after the body of her lover, Krabbe Dieter Gunther, a German nation, was found on the ground floor of a hotel in Mombasa.

Gunther's body was found on Saturday, May 29, just two days after that of his girlfriend identified as Cynthia Akinyi was found wrapped in a bedsheet in Mtwapa.

The case has taken a twist now with the pursuit of the woman whom police believe is responsible for both deaths.

After Akinyi's death on Thursday, Police had initially launched a manhunt for the German national believing that he had murdered his girlfriend.

His death was initially ruled as suicide since detectives observed that he had jumped from the fifth floor of the building.

Kilifi County Commander Nelson Taliti, in the preliminary report, disclosed that evidence showed that Gunther, who was aged 58 years, had quarrelled with his girlfriend.

“The man had a fight with the woman in their house on Wednesday night. He killed her and then ran away. His body was found at around 6am on Saturday by members of the public, who then alerted the police."

“It has not been established if he had booked a room in the hotel before committing suicide. I am yet to get the details," stated Taliti.

After advanced research, the police told media outlets that they believed the woman, who hails from Kembeni in Bamburi, was responsible for the death.

They believed that the foreigner must have been pushed to his death.

"It is alleged that Mr Dieter had another woman but we are still investigating the matter to know what caused his death.

"The boda boda rider knows a lot since he was the only one who was sent to buy food and even beer for the lovers and deliver it to their apartment at Mtomondoni and the other house in Bamburi," the police boss clarified.

The police indicated that the nature of the foreigner's business in Kenya was still not clear.
