Deputy President William Ruto is hosting a Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting for Members of Parliament allied to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) at his Karen residence.

The DP called the lawmakers for a PG meeting on Thursday, August 5, 2021, amid growing tension between him and State House.

Members of Parliament started arriving at Ruto's Karen residence in the early hours of the morning for the meeting that most political pundits believe will address his woes in government and strategize on the 2022 presidential election.

A video seen by Kenyans.co.ke showed the MPs dancing and jubilating as they waited for the DP to show up. The happy lawmakers were dressed in the UDA party black and yellow colours.

On Wednesday, UDA allied MPs also donned the same colours as they welcomed newly sworn-in Kiambaa MP John Njuguna who was escorted by legislators Kimani Ichungwa (Kikuyu) and Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu) to take his oath of office as a parliamentarian.

Speaker Justin Muturi swore in Mr. Njuguna in an event that saw MPs dancing and celebrating in Parliament.

The Speaker urged the Members of Parliament allied to UDA to calm down but they could not contain themselves over their win.

They sang songs praising DP William Ruto as well as Njuguna for clinching the seat.

This comes even as reports indicate that President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga will hold private talks on Thursday, August 5, 2021 in Mombasa.

The DP's meeting comes days after he was blocked from leaving the country for Kampala.

In an interview on Inooro FM on Wednesday, August 4, the Deputy President - although evasive - detailed the intrigues behind his aborted trip.

Ruto said the decision to deny him authority to leave the country was politically instigated following the emergent leadership differences between him and pro-President Uhuru Kenyatta allies.

Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho denied blocking DP Ruto's trip to Uganda as he stated that he suspected the DP lacked some important documents that were needed for his flight.
