A new political party affiliated with Gatundu South Member of Parliament, Moses Kuria was on Thursday, August 19 officially registered by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP).

According to ORPP, Chama Cha Kazi became the seventy-fifth fully registered party after complying with conditions set in Section 7 of the Political Parties Act, 2011.

Kuria has been popularizing Chama Cha Kazi whose motto is "Kazi Pesa Umoja" after falling out with the People's Empowerment Party, which clinched Juja parliamentary by-election on May 19.

"Kenya today has Seventy-five (75) fully registered political parties. This is after the issuance of full registration certificate to Chama cha Kazi after complying with conditions set on Sec.7 of the political parties act, 2011. The certificate was issued today, at the ORPP boardroom," ORPP wrote on their official social media page.

According to those familiar with the party, Chama Cha Kazi intends to push for the dignity of work, sanctity of enterprises, and unity in diversity.

PEP national chairman, Watson Simiyu admitted that they had fallen out with Kuria over fundamental issues.

“We had issues after the Juja and Gaturi by-elections, which we are trying to sort out. We have a meeting with him and we will try to iron out the problem,” Simiyu stated.

The registration of a new party comes as the outspoken lawmaker insisted that he will not join United Democratic Alliance (UDA) associated with Deputy President William Ruto.

The Gatundu South MP has maintained that the Mt. Kenya region has sacrificed a lot for DP Ruto and should therefore be allowed to have its own party going forward.

"I think is unfair and we have already agreed for the first time in 30 years that were are not going to have someone on top of the ticket. Now we agree on that then you still want to deny us a chance to have a party. It is unfair, unacceptable: I don't care whether I am shut out of government, this or next to one, but I will stand on this one," Kuria stated.

Kuria argued that the Mt. Kenya region risks being left out of government if they fail to coalesce around a single party ahead of the 2022 General Election.

"If were are not careful as Mt Kenya Region, we are going to be spectators of the Mashemeji derby between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards. We are going to be spectators of the Olympics." Kuria warned.
