Several people are feared dead while others sustained injuries after a bus from Nairobi overturned at Fort Ternan in Kericho on the afternoon of Monday, October 11.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a Police officer in Kericho confirmed that the Mbukinya Bus overturned at the black spot resulting in casualties.
The bus was headed to Kisumu from Nairobi.
Photos seen by Kenyans.co.ke showed a mangled-up bus with broken windows and a completely damaged front windscreen.
A medical team from Londiani District Hospital responded to emergency calls and rushed to the aid of the accident victims. The injured were ferried to the facility for first aid and specialised treatment.
The cause of the incident was not yet ascertained. However, eyewitnesses alleged that the road was slippery since it was raining.
Fort Ternan has in recent years been marked as a black spot after recording a number of accidents including a 2018 crash that claimed over 50 lives.10 survivors of the accident involving a Homeboyz bus were rushed to a nearby hospital in Muhoroni.

The survey indicated that fatalities had increased by 25 per cent as of September 20, 2021.
These accidents were attributed to reckless driving, dangerous overtaking, drunk driving and failure to use protective gear such as helmets.
