At the time of publishing, the tree was yet to be removed from the scene. It would be advisable for motorists planning to use that route to use a different road.

As at October 11, 2021, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced the opening up of various completed sections of the Expressway to pave way for restoration works on the existing highway.

The sections included; Imara Daima to General Motors (GM) and the section to Airtel Centre.

The authority announced the opening up of traffic of the newly built road from Westlands to James Gichuru to facilitate completion of the works on the other half of the Road projected to be used by the end of October, 2021.

The traffic menace along Mombasa Road has been a major concern for the majority of the motorists with some spending a nights on the road.

KeNHA communications representative, Sam Kumba, previously noted that the majority of the traffic was worsened by overlapping motorists - whom he urged to adhere to the traffic rules.
