A middle-aged woman identified as Sandra Wahiga was on Thursday evening, October 14, caught between a rock and a hard place after she was locked inside a popular city restaurant, just a few minutes before the 10pm curfew.
Wahiga highlighted her plight on Twitter, requesting Kenyans to help get the attention of the restaurant's management or owners.
In a video, the distressed woman disclosed that she had visited the restroom when the restaurant's worker unknowingly locked her in.
"I was here as a client, went to the ladies and unfortunately I was locked in. The soldiers are outside and they say that the eatery is locked by two people and they have since gone home," she narrated.
"I can't sleep here, I have to go to work tomorrow. Anyone who knows someone who can help, please reach out cause the curfew starts in just like 15 minutes," she added in the video.
Kenyans were swift to respond by retweeting, commenting and helping with useful contacts that would see her get help.
After about two hours, she issued an update saying that she had been rescued by the National Police Service.
She also expressed gratitude to her colleague Victor who was with her the entire time and netizens who helped her get the message out.
"Thank you to each of you who took the time to retweet or reply to me. It meant so much. Special mention goes to the National Police who came to my rescue, with special mention to Inspector Oyoo, he specifically ensured that I was dropped home," she stated.
Social media is a double-edged sword which has been used both positively and negatively.
In recent times, Kenyans on Twitter, commonly referred to as KOT, have highlighted issues that have received the attention they deserve from various entities and the media.
