Laikipia Women Representative Cate Waruguru, on Saturday, November 6, launched a scathing attack on former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary (CS), Mwangi Kiunjuri.

Speaking in Laikipia County, Waruguru called out Kiunjuri over his interest in the Laikipia East parliamentary seat, stating that the seat was too small for him and would be a downgrade.

Waruguru urged the former CS to let youths vie for the Member of the County Assembly, Woman-Rep and parliamentary seats. She further dared him to contest for the country's top seat like other leaders of his caliber.

"Men of your equal stature are bargaining for nothing less than the presidency and deputy president," the county MP reiterated.

Waruguru, who also has interest in the Laikipia East seat, asked Kiunjuri to follow her footsteps and leave the 'small' seats for younger people. She further assured the former CS, who had declared interest in a running mate post in the August 9, 2022 poll, that she would beat him on the ballot.

"If you decide to vie for the parliamentary seat, I will deal with you and ensure you go home," she stated.

Waruguru claimed that The Service Party leader was the main cause of problems bedeviling the people of Laikipia. She blamed him for the high rate of unemployment of youth and the poor economic state of the county.

The Woman Rep termed Kiunjuri as an incompetent leader who failed to deliver when he was a member of parliament and a CS.

"Truth be told, nobody trusts Mwangi Kiunjuri. Even President Uhuru rejected him and kicked him out of the Ministry of Agriculture," she stated.

The member of parliament who also announced her defection to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) stated that she had reached the decision after consulting with delegates as well as the people of Laikipia. She further revealed that the Jubilee Party had become hostile to elected leaders.

Waruguru explained that Jubilee had been taken hostage by non-elected party leaders, who made it difficult for elected leaders to seek audience with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

She, however, maintained that Kenyatta had delivered what he promised the people of Kenya, had already written his legacy, but his time to leave the office had come. Her defection to UDA came barely weeks after Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, joined DP Ruto's hustler movement.
