The family of Stephen Musyoka, a Boda Boda rider who was hit and killed in an accident alleged to have involved David Mwendwa, the son of Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai, has broken silence.

The family decried getting any information on how their kin met their death They added that information of their relative's death was not forthcoming.

The deceased's brother, Emmanuel Mwaniki, disclosed that he and his father, Joseph Mutemi, visited the Lang'ata Police Station in search of answers but were suspicious of how the police were handling the matter.

"We needed information of what transpired but when we got to the Langata police station, we were told to go bury our kin first and come for the information later," Mwaniki stated.

The deceased is survived by his wife and a one-year-old son.

"How will I bring up my child, how will he get an education. My husband was the sole breadwinner," Musyoka's wife stated.

Mutyambai's son Mwendwa was allegedly drunk when he fatally injured a pedestrian and veered off the road to hit the boda boda rider on Thursday, December 2.

He is reported to have surrendered himself at the Lang'ata Police Station on Friday night, December 3, and was released on bail.

Nairobi Traffic Police Commander, Joshua Omukata, refuted the coverup claims and maintained that investigations will be conducted without putting into consideration who the suspect was the son of the IG.

"That he is the son of the Inspector General is not a fact to this matter. Even if he is the son of the IG or not the son of the IG the thing ahead of us is an accident.

"We are not investigating the son of who but we are investigating an accident in which we have the driver. It's about the person who has committed the accident not any other person," Omukata told the press.
