The Jubilee party has suffered yet another blow after Molo Member of Parliament, Kuria Kimani defected to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

The move by the first time legislator comes barely days after the ruling party held its Parliamentary Group meeting at State House, Nairobi on February 4.

In a statement on his official Twitter account on Sunday, February 6, the Molo MP stated that he had served the ruling party faithfully adding that he would seek reelection through the UDA party, a party led by Deputy President William Ruto.

"I have served my Jubilee Party diligently. As I look forward to serve the people of Molo as their Member of Parliament for another term.

"I will be seeking this mandate through United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and I was received by Deputy President William Ruto this morning,"  he stated.

He added that it was time for an economic revolution in the country further ascribing to the Bottom Up economic model by quoting the 32nd US President Franklin Roosevelt.

“These economic times call for the building of plans that build from the bottom up and not from the top down, that put their faith once more in the forgotten man at the bottom of the economic pyramid,”

“The party is UDA and the formation is the hustler nation. Our economic plan is the Bottom Up economic model,” he stated.

Kimani was received by DP Ruto at his official residence in Karen while in the company of Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, and Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki.

Consequently, Nyoro took to social media to welcome his colleague to the UDA brigade stating that they were stronger with the defection of the Jubilee parliamentarian.

"The Hustler Nation received Hon Kuria Kimani this Sunday morning. Welcome my brother. We are African and Africa is our business," he stated.

Kimani now joins a growing list of Jubilee parliamentarians who have dumped President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee party and joined hands with DP Ruto in recent weeks as politicians align themselves ahead of the August 9 polls.
