Social media has been awash with a video of FORD-Kenya Party leader Moses Wetangula mingling with residents from Kakamega County during the Kenya Kwanza tour of the region.

In the video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Wetangula conducted an opinion poll- asking the residents who ought to be the governor of the region in the upcoming General Election.

The residents, in unison, throwed their weight behind the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate, Fernandes Barasa.

Further, the residents informed Wetangula that they would not be swayed by a candidate's political party but by their track record and potential to carry the county's vision.

"And who do you want as the next governor of Kakamega county?" he enquired.

"Fernandes Barasa of ODM. We are not looking at the party he belongs to. We want to give our votes to the young man," the supporters told him.

The news seemed to rattle the FORD-Kenya party leader whose Kenya Kwanza coalition has vouched for former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale as their Gubernatorial candidate.

Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali, in a past meeting, revealed that Khalwale would get the Gubernatorial party ticket while ANC's Cleopas Malala would get the Senatorial seat.

"Our Gubernatorial candidate in Kenya kwanza Alliance for Governor position of Kakamega is from UDA party and the Senator from ANC party. All other positions are open to any party. The media should stop speculations and get that clear," he previously stated.

The political realm shifted after the merger of ANC, FORD-Kenya and UDA to form the Kenya Kwanza movement. Hailing economic prosperity as their key proclamation, both Musalia Mudavadi and Deputy President William Ruto have affirmed to work together in the upcoming General Election.

Details of the power sharing deal among the three have, however, been kept under wraps with UDA's Secretary General Veronica Maina promising that the details would be released at a later date.

“The details of the cooperation between UDA, ANC and Ford Kenya, and any other political party, if at all, will be formally unveiled by the principals at an appropriate time,” she stated.
