According to ArchDatum magazine, Mehraz was contracted by a real estate company, Zana International, to design and build the mansion.

Mehraz originally designed the house to serve as a family residence as well as a venue for a large gathering. According to Zana International's official site, the house can accommodate an average of 200-250 guests.

The designer story dates back to 1942 in the USA, Ehsani's passion for architecture sprung from an early age. In 1964, he pursued a Bachelors in Civil Engineering at the University of Wales in the United Kingdom.

In 1970, he advanced his studies to acquire a Master's of Architecture at the University of California. After completion, he was a lecturer in Architecture at the same university before moving to Kenya to teach at the University of Nairobi.

The billionaire comes from a family of architects. Mehraz and his brother, Hamed, built the posh Village Market, Nairobi. The vision began with a seven-acre plot that housed 30 shops and a small supermarket at a price tag of Ksh150 million in 1995. This ultimately grew to the exquisite Village Market that has become one of the most popular recreational shopping malls.

Mehraz is also synonymous with designing Tribe Hotel, a five-star hotel that has served host to celebrities such as American actress Angelina Jolie.

During a previous interview with the media, Mehraz detailed how the house, one of his priced designs, embodies one-of-a-kind security features.

The house is surrounded by swimming pools that act as a buffer zone in order to protect the mansion's external glass walls.

"We created the swimming pools that are motes and they exist in front of the living room and we can have all the glass free without burglar-proof bars. If you want to come and take a TV you have to go through two and a half meters of water. If the owner wants to be particularly dangerous, they can put a crocodile in there,” Ehsani stated.

Another unique feature includes the moving library which can be connected to the living room. According to Ehsani, the house is secure.
