The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a motor vehicle auction exercise to be carried out across the country.
In a notice released on Tuesday, April 26, the authority announced that it was auctioning the motor vehicles alongside other items deemed as surplus, obsolete and unserviceable.
The vehicles include various Toyota models including Prados, Land Cruiser, Corolla, Hiace van, Double Cabin, Condor station wagon, Hilux as well as Peugeot 504.
The exercise will kick off on Thursday, May 5, and end on Thursday, May 26, beginning at Nairobi Supplies Branch Likoni Road Opposite the NTSA at 11:00am.
On Tuesday, May 10, another auction exercise will be held at the Kenya School of Revenue Administration (KESRA) in Mombasa County at 11 am.
Three days later, the auction will be held at the Nakuru public works grounds which will run the whole day.
On Tuesday, May 17, the auction will be staged at KRA Forodha House in Kisumu county while on Thursday, May 19, the Authority will hold the public auction at KRA office, Kiptagich house.
Interested bidders from Nyeri town will get a chance to view the vehicles on Tuesday, May 24. On the last day, the viewing location will be at Kenya Cereals and Produce Board in Embu.
Sources privy to the information at KRA intimated to Kenyans.co.ke that the pricing is usually confidential and is unveiled on the day of the auction. The source, however, confirmed that the sale shall be subject to reasonable prices.
How to Bid
The viewing will be done at various locations as indicated during normal working hours to verify details as these are not warranted by Auctioneers as the sale is on an as-is-where-is basis.
Interested bidders must pay a refundable deposit of Ksh50,000 per vehicle and Ksh10,000 for other goods in form of a banker's cheque in favour of Philips International Auctioneers to obtain a bidding number.
The declared purchasers must deposit 25 percent of the purchase price by the close of business on the auction day into the bank account of KRA to be provided during the auction and the balance paid within 7 days from the auction date into the same account, failure to which the money received including the deposit will be forfeited.
"We shall adhere to the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act 2015 section 53.6 which states that all procurement and asset disposal planning shall reserve a minimum of 30 percent of the budgetary allocations for the enterprises owned by women, youth, persons with disabilities, and other disadvantaged groups."
