Former State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita on Monday, May 9 revealed a special oath that the Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka took at retired president the late Daniel Torotich Arap Moi's home in Kabarak, Nakuru County.

In a statement, Waita claimed that Kalonzo had taken an oath to unite the Kamba nation, when he was handed over the leadership mantle by the Mulu Mutisya.

He added that Mutisya, a veteran politician from Ukambani who enjoyed close ties with Moi, introduced the former Vice President as his preferred successor. Now, Waita claims that he went against his own word, leading to a rift, that has left the region more divided than before.

"When Mulu Mutisya held Kalonzo's hand and took him to Kabarak where he was anointed as the leader of the nation, Mulu expected that he would unite all our people and bring prosperity. Instead, he is overseeing the systematic destruction of the unity," Waita wrote.

The Machakos county gubernatorial hopeful noted that in recent times, Kalonzo has been at loggerheads with other leaders from the region who have consequently distanced themselves from him. He opined that the OKA principal was the problem.

Waita added that the Wiper leader should have exercised his wisdom to iron out the thorny issues that appear to have driven a wedge among the region's leaders. He further alleged that Kalonzo was pushed by selfish interests and strayed away from Mulu's vision for the people.

"Why did Musila, Muthama, Ngilu, Kibwana and Mutua walk away, could they all be wrong? Why didn't he use the spirit of Mulu to resolve the issues for the sake of our people?" He posed.

President Uhuru Kenyatta's former right-hand man added that Kalonzo blackmailed Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga in a selfish manner and that it would eventually cost them the Lower Eastern's support.

"His strange ideas of democracy do not abode well for the future of the Kamba nation and his demands to Raila on the zoning of Machakos as a Wiper only county is setting the stage for the ultimate political isolation of our people.

"If  Azimio succumbs to his blackmail, we can book an early seat on the opposition benches where we shall sit for another 10 years. Another decade of underdevelopment, isolation, another lost generation - the destruction will be complete, he added.

Waita reiterated his endorsement for the ODM leader to succeed Uhuru, stating that he was the best leader to guarantee the future of the Kamba people.

His concerns come amid deepening divisions with the Azimio camp over the decision to interview Kalonzo for the running mate position. The former VP has strongly objected to an assessment by the advisory panel, noting that he was the most suitable candidate to guarantee victory come August 9, 2022.
