The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on the night of Saturday, June 18, deported a foreigner who was wanted by the United States Government.

In a statement released on Sunday, June 19, the agency noted that Christopher Richard Spencer, a Guyanese national, had been arrested immediately after touching down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on June 16.

He had flown into the country from Sao Paulo, in Southeastern Brazil.

"The Guyanese national who was arrested two days ago at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport has been deported to the United States to face justice. Christopher Richard Spencer, was deported last night to the U.S via a New York-bound flight.

"The fugitive who is wanted by the U.S government for drug-related charges was arrested shortly after arrival in the country from Sao Paulo, in Southeastern Brazil," the statement read in part.

Spencer is said to have dealt with a gang that smuggled cocaine into various countries including the United States.

In 2015, he is said to have smuggled 1.5kgs of cocaine through shoe luggage while entering the US.

He was first arrested in 2016 after he was nabbed with the consignment but was released on the basis of the pre-trial which he violated.

His warrant of arrest was also issued in March 2017 which he reportedly violated once again.

"Again, he violated pre-trial conditions of non-appearance and change of address without reporting, leading to another warrant which was issued on March 19, 2018," stated the DCI.

Since March 2018, the fugitive had been on the run until his arrest at JKIA Airport by the DCI.

On June 7, 2022, the DCI arrested an international fugitive Mohamed Magzoub who was hiding at the University of Nairobi (UoN).

Magzoub, a Sudanese national, was on the run and is facing charges of organized crime in his home country.
