Kenya Kwanza coalition presidential candidate, William Ruto, continues to trail his Azimio la Umoja counterpart, Raila Odinga, according to the latest poll.

The poll released by Infotrak on Wednesday, July 13, showed that Ruto's popularity stood at 37 percent, having lost 1 percent from a previous poll.

Raila recorded a one percent increase to 43 percent, up from 42 percent in the previous poll.

The undecided voters still maintained a wide margin with 16 percent of the respondents still yet to make up their minds.

Roots party leader George Wajackoyah had a popularity rating of four percent while his Agano counterpart, David Mwaure, had 0.1 percent.

Raila's lead in the poll generally translates to 9.4 million votes in July 2022 as opposed to 9.3 million votes in May 2022.

On the other hand, Ruto's 38 percent approval ratings translated to 8.1 million votes. DP Ruto, however, dropped 300,000 votes as opposed to 8.4 million votes at the end of May 2022.

"Generally, If Ruto has lost one percent and Raila has gained one percent, and the undecided has gone down to 16 percent, then we can say that the net gains that have been made right now could essentially have gone to George Wajackoyah," Infotrak CEO, Angela Ambitho, stated.

Raila led in six out of nine regions including Coast (49 percent), Northern (52 percent), Nyanza (73 percent), Western (46 percent) and Nairobi (49 percent). Ruto, on the other hand, surpassed his competitors in Mount Kenya (55 percent), North (58 percent) and South Rift (54 percent) regions.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party emerged as the most popular political party with 33 percent, with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party following with 31 percent. Jubilee party and Roots party closed the top four with four and two percent respectively.

Azimio la Umoja, however, was the most popular coalition as opposed to Kenya Kwanza (43 percent against 38 percent.

The previous opinion poll, held in June 2022, showed that Ruto's popularity stood at 38 percent while Raila's ratings led the front with 42 percent.
