Chams Media founder Alex Chamwada has continued to embody the saying, 'East or west, home is best' after he visited five of his former primary school teachers.
The veteran journalist made the trip to his home county of Vihiga on Sunday, November 27, coinciding with the eve of the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).
While showering them with goods, the renowned journalist admitted that the tutors played an impactful role in molding him.
His return trip came 36 years since sitting for his national exams in 1986.
"My primary school teachers made a very big impact in my life. They laid the foundation not just for my career but the 'whole me'!
"The school is known as Ellongo Primary School in Sabatia Constituency, Vihiga County. Yesterday I met five of them. I sat for KCPE in 1986," stated the Daring Abroad host.
His life was upended soon after when the journalist scored high marks and secured a slot at St Peter's Mumias Boys High school.
In January 2022, Chamwada and his former classmate organised a ceremony and surprised their former teacher Cassianus Ijait Aluku, who served as their Principal from 1982 to 1992.
The visit was also organised 30 years after the students had sat their Kenya Certificate of Secondary School (KCSE) examinations.
They hailed the teacher for his contributions to the school and their wellbeing. According to Wanyonyi Buteyo, Chamwada's former classmate, the institution was ranked the top school in the Western region during Aluku's reign.
"Currently, I have two former students of St Peters in my company, Chams Media, one is an accountant, the other is a communication consultant," stated Chamwada at the time.
Chamwada has been a force to reckon within the media industry with zeal easily traceable to his primary and high school days.
