Judiciary Officials Arraigned in Court for Abuse of Office

Six former Judicial tender review commissioners were today arraigned at Milimani court and charged with abuse of office.

They include; Francis Kissinger, Martin Okwata, Benedict Omollo, Thomas Atak, Nicholas Mbeba and Wycliffe Wanga.

The court heard that the six irregularly procured a house for the Chief Justice at a cost of Sh310 million.

Suspended Judiciary Chief Registrar Gladys Shollei, was also supposed to appear in court today but was not present since she is out of the country.

Shollei was to be charged with abuse of office and failure to comply with procurement laws, as per a directive given last week by DPP Keriako Tobiko.

She will, however, take her plea when she returns to the country.

The six who appeared before Chief magistrate Kennedy Bidali denied the charges and were released on a cash bail of Sh 600,000.

The case will be heard on August 24.
