Dennis Itumbi, the nominee for Cabinet Administrative Secretary for ICT, lost control of his Twitter Account on March 22.

The popular Twitter account which has over 2.1 million followers, suffered a major breach that led to modifications.

One of the things that were changed is Itumbi's name, which was replaced with "Arbitrum".

Kenyans.co.ke contacted the CAS nominee for a comment or clarification but he did not respond at the time of publishing.

Arbitrum is a cryptocurrency suite of scaling solutions that provides faster speed at significantly lower cost services.

It was not clear why Arbitrum would attack Itumbi's account without raising any concerns or warning before the hacking.

Curiously, the supposed hacker also used blue and orange emojis to put forth clandestine communication to both Itumbi and his followers.

Itumbi had long used the Twitter account to share the Kenya Kwanza government policies and vision.

Previous attempts to hack Itumbi's social networks did not succeed, as he claimed, in a number of tweets that he shared on his account.

“Luckily, they have owned up to their mischief,” Itumbi claimed on his social media platforms.

It was reported in January 2023, that Israeli hackers were able to access emails and private chats belonging to two of President William Ruto’s top aides except that of Itumbi.

Three undercover journalists claimed Telegram accounts belonging to Energy Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir were among those that were compromised.
