William Ruto Cautioned Against ICC Case

Deputy President William Ruto's ICC case has taken stage, with some Members of Parliament voicing their concerns against the case.

Legislators affiliated to the Jubillee coalition have cautioned the DP against honouring summons at the ICC, noting that it was a plot to deny him justice.

Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu urged Ruto not to go to the Hague based court, claiming that there was a plot to lock up the DP when he arrives in Netherlands.

Nominated MP Sarah Lekorere echoed past sentiments, where various political leaders have faulted the linking of Ruto to the 2007/08 post election chaos.

She noted that the Deputy President was not a presidential candidate in the elections, and therefore should not have been involved.

The sentiments have been sparked by a decision from the ICC judges to allow the prosecutor use recanted statements, by witnesses who withdrew from the case, as evidence against Ruto.
