A traffic police officer was on Thursday caught allegedly receiving a Sh2,000 bribe from a truck driver.
The nabbed officer later attempted to destroy the notes in a bid to conceal evidence.
According to area EACC boss Ignatius Wekesa, the truck driver James Mithika, had been asked by the officer to pay Sh3,000 for the release of his truck but negotiated up to Sh2,000.
The driver later alerted the EACC officers in Samburu County who gave him treated notes to conduct a sting operation.
The police officer attempted to tear the treated notes upon noticing the anti-graft officers, but mistakenly destroyed his own Sh1,000 and Sh100 notes.
The area EACC boss said the notes were not damaged and therefore evidence of the act still existed.
Investigations into the matter have commenced.
This comes after two officers were rescued by their collegues from the nab of EACC officials in Athi River, along Mombasa Road.
