Brian Ouko Omollo alias Khaligraph Jones is an award-winning Kenyan rapper and songwriter.
He is best known for his hit songs “Mazishi” and “Yego” and has two albums to his name; Testimony 1990 and Invisible Currency.
In 2024, Khaligraph Jones continued to make waves in the rap music industry in Kenya as well as set social media agendas online.
One of the awards he received this year was Artist of the Year at the East Africa Arts & Entertainment Awards.
Just recently, his palatial homestead went viral on social media triggering a tirade of opinions from Kenyans on opposite sides of the spectrum.
While some were of the opinion that they did not mind having similar problems of having a very big house, others thought the house seemed hollow and ‘like a mall’.
Needless to say, the rapper and business mogul once again proved his influence is bigger than most.
In 2023, Khaligraph was one of the 2 artists chosen to represent Kenya in Coke Studio Africa alongside RnB singer Nikita Kering’. Together, they recorded a mashup of Nikita’s hit song "Ex."
According to critics, Khaligraph is one of the best Kenyan rappers of all time.
He has also contributed immensely to Kenyan Hip Hop culture by featuring unknown and underrated rappers in his "Khali Cartel" series, whose primary objective is to give the talented acts much needed exposure.
Born and raised in Kayole, Nairobi, Khaligraph struggled to break through into the Kenyan music industry, often experiencing stereotypes for his Brooklyn sounding accent and critics who questioned whether Kenyan rappers should record in english.
Due to his sheer hard work and appearances in numerous freestyles, Khaligraph eventually made it and has gone on to win various awards.
In 2009, Khaligraph won Channel O Emcee Africa, a notable achievement that propelled him to instant fame.
In October 2018, he won the Best Rap Act of the Year at the fifth edition of the Annual African Muzik Magazine Awards 2018 (Afrimma) in Texas, USA.
In January 2020, he won the best Hip Hop Act at the Sound City MVP Awards in Nigeria.
The same year, he also received his first BET Hip Hop Music Awards nomination in the Best International Flow category.
Khaligraph also runs and operates a record label, BluInk Corp located in Kilimani, Nairobi.
