It is said that leadership is a skill and Tom Gitogo, the Group Managing Director and the CEO of Britam Holdings Plc, has it in abundance.
Gitogo sits at the helm of a modern financial services company with operations in 7 African countries including Uganda, South Sudan, Mozambique, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Malawi.
He is an accomplished professional with skills ranging from General Management, Finance Operations and Talent Management, as well as Commercial and Business Strategy.
Factor this; at Britam he has managed to put the company on solid footing growing the company’s earnings from just Ksh 72 million in 2021 to Ksh1.7 billion for the full- year ended December 2022.
He also quadrupled the half-year net profit for the period ended June to Ksh1.64 billion.
Apart from Britam, he also holds several positions in other leading financial services firms.
“Previously, he was responsible for CIC Insurance Group operations in four African countries including, Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, and Malawi, where across five years, he oversaw the growth and profitable performance of the listed financial services company.
“Before CIC, Tom served as the CEO of Pan Africa Life (now Sanlam Insurance), which like CIC, is also listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange, for seven years,” reads his LinkedIn profile.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Nairobi and a Master’s in Business Administration with a speciality in Strategic Management from Moi University.
Additionally, Gitogo is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
