Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru was ranked as the most probable female running mate for President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.

This is according to the survey released by Mizani Africa on Thursday, May 9, which assessed the performance of the Kenya Kwanza regime since it clinched power in 2022.

The survey looked at the most probable running mates for President Ruto in the event he decides to chart a different path in the 2027 polls.

President Ruto has in the past hinted at UDA settling on a female presidential running mate in future although he did not categorically state that this would happen in 2027.

To this end, the Mizani report ranked Waiguru first at 42 per cent, followed by Trade CS Rebecca Miano (35 per cent), Embu governor Cecily Mbarire (9 per cent), and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga (7 per cent).

Additionally, Trade CS Miano was ranked the best-performing CS with a 72.3 per cent score, pipping her Interior counterpart Kithure Kindiki who ranks first in the majority of similar polls.

Kindiki scored 68.4 per cent, followed by ICT CS Eliud Owalo (63.4 per cent), Foreign Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi (59.7 per cent) and Treasury's Njuguna Ndung'u (56.1 per cent).

Sports CS Ababu Namwamba was ranked sixth with 55.4 per cent, Tourism CS Alfred Mutua (54.9 per cent), Cooperatives CS Simon Chelugui (53.1 per cent), Defence CS Aden Duale (47.2 per cent) and Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen (45.3 per cent).

Miano was ranked as the most improved CS, ranking first in three aspects; best performing, most transformative CS and most committed CS.

The report listed eight reasons for her stellar performance among them the launch of the Karibu Business Support Centre for all businesses and hosting over 10 high-powered bilateral meetings with American companies during the Amcham summit.

Miano was also ranked high after Kenya secured a deal to export flowers to the United Kingdom for the next two years tariff-free.

The former KenGen Managing Director also facilitated the ratification of the Kenya-European Union Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by Parliament.

Miano also signed MoUs with 18 County Governments on County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs) and led a bilateral meeting with Tanzania in Kisumu which resolved the majority of Non-Tariff Barriers.
