The Ethiopian Horticulture Producer Exporters Association (EHPEA) has partnered with TradeMark Africa to launch comprehensive e-learning and knowledge management systems tailored to Ethiopia's horticulture sector.

This initiative, part of a broader programme funded by the European Union through the Agence Française de Développement, aims to enhance productivity and global competitiveness. The project supports regional economic integration through the Djibouti-Ethiopia Corridor.

The newly developed systems will equip EHPEA members with advanced digital tools for knowledge management and e-learning. These platforms will provide access to resources, training materials, and interactive modules, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing in horticulture production and export practices. "Through this project, we are investing not just in technology but in the future of Ethiopia's horticulture sector," stated EHPEA Executive Director Mr. Tewodros Zewdie.

Utilising technologies like IoT, data analytics, and cloud computing, the initiative aims to optimise production processes and enhance market access. IoT sensors will enable data-driven decisions in irrigation and cultivation, while data analytics will provide insights into consumer preferences and market trends. "By harnessing the power of ICT, Ethiopia's horticulture sector can foster innovation and improve competitiveness," added Mr. Zewdie. The EU delegation for Djibouti and IGAD highlighted this project as a prime example of promoting digital trade and sustainable economic development in Africa.
