Uber, the renowned taxi-hailing up, has taken its services in Kenya a notch higher by introducing a comfort tier allowing customers to set their temperatures.

Dubbed Uber Comfort, the new option charging 5 per cent higher than Uber X, will allow customers to choose their preferred temperature and alert drivers to make the adjustment before picking them up.

Drivers with cars manufactured earlier than 2015 will only be allowed to sign up for the service while strict criteria will gradually be rolled out for the drivers.

“As time goes by, additional thresholds like inspection could be introduced. This ensures that a car is in good condition. But we are currently limiting the eligibility requirements to cars newer than 2015,” stated Uber head of communications Lorraine Onduru.
