TradeMark Africa (TMA) in conjunction with the Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC) organised the Economic Empowerment of Women Conference in Zanzibar, which brought together over 350 women in celebration of International Women's Day.
Held under the theme 'Invest in Women for Sustainable Development,' the conference aimed to empower women economically by providing them with essential trade insights, facilitating knowledge sharing, honouring women leaders in business, and fostering emerging talents through mentorship programs.
TradeMark Africa, a longstanding advocate for Aid-for-Trade initiatives, reiterated its commitment to women's economic empowerment through substantial investments totalling over Ksh412 million ($3 million) in Tanzania over the past seven years.
Elibariki Shammy, Country Director of TMA, announced an additional investment of Ksh206 million ($1.5 million) to support 12,000 women entrepreneurs across Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania, emphasizing the organization's holistic approach to support beyond financial aid.
