Butali Sugar has asked all farmers looking to supply sugar cane into the facility to onboard the electronic Tax Invoice Management System (eTIMS) managed by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

The company wrote a notice to all its suppliers revealing that it will not release payments for those who fail to enroll.

“We will not be able to process and pay you for cane deliveries unless you as our farmer provide us with a valid Electronic Tax Incoice,” read the notice in part.

The taxman had aimed at onboarding approximately 900,000 farmers onto the service and improving tax revenues when the project was launched last week
