10 Foreigners Apply for Gor Mahia Job

Kenya Premier League Champions Gor Mahia has received 10 applications from foreigners seeking to replace coach Frank Nuttall who has parted ways with the club.

The applications come less than 24 hours since the unsettled Kogallo coach was reported to have left the country on Monday, to join Egyptian giant Zamalek as an assistant coach.

Gor Mahia's Assistant Secretary General Ronald Ngala confirmed the interests, even though Nuttall's contract had not been terminated.

“We have received 10 applications so far and surprisingly there is no local coach interested in the job. Most of the candidates are from Romania and Spain but we might not go through all the applications as we intend to settle on the best through recommendation,” Ngala was quoted by Capital.

Some of the potential candidates for the job include former Brazilian star Jose Marcelo FarreiraSpaniard Antonio Flores among others.

The official also added that Gor Mahia would avail a new coach by Friday since the club's activities had to continue.

Meanwhile, Kogallo is considering taking disciplinary action against Nutall through FIFA, for breaching contract terms with the Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions.

“Nuttall has not contacted us to tell us he is leaving. This kind of behavior is not good to the team and he is forcing us to make a decision of searching for his replacement because the club must run.”

In February, the Kenyan football giant had announced parting ways with the tactician after he rejected a pay cut. He was later reinstated after fans piled pressure on the team's management.
