KEMSA Announces Vacancy for CEO Position, Two Other Agencies Advertise Jobs; How to Apply

The Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) on Tuesday declared an opening for the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) role, inviting qualified candidates to apply.

This announcement, published on Tuesday, May 21, through the MyGov publication, is seeking a candidate to take charge of the government’s medical supplies agency.

According to the notice, the new CEO will be contracted for a four-year term, subject to renewal based on performance evaluations. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO will wield authority over the overall leadership and administration of KEMSA's operations. This includes crucial tasks such as budget allocation, strategic planning, and team management.

The CEO's mandate extends to overseeing all aspects of strategic, operational, and financial management within KEMSA, guided by the Board of Directors. The notice emphasized the importance of developing and championing a bold strategy to inspire commitment across the authority, aligning with KEMSA's core mandate.

In terms of academic and professional qualifications, KEMSA has set stringent criteria for potential candidates. A Bachelor's degree in fields such as Pharmacy, Business Management, or Finance from a recognized university is required. Additionally, a postgraduate degree in relevant fields along with substantial senior management experience, particularly in health or supply chain management sectors, is essential.

Moreover, the ideal candidate must possess over five years of experience in managing diverse donor-funded projects or strategic partnerships. Certification in Strategic Leadership and Corporate Governance, coupled with membership in relevant professional bodies, is also mandated.

Technical competencies expected from the CEO include; proficiency in strategy and corporate planning, financial management, and supply chain management. Behavioral competencies such as strong leadership, strategic thinking, and effective communication skills are deemed equally imperative.

Prospective candidates must obtain various clearance certificates, including police clearance from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and tax compliance certification from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), among others.

Interested individuals meeting the outlined requirements are urged to submit their applications before 5pm on June 1, 2024.

Application materials should include a cover letter, a detailed CV with referees' contacts, a copy of the National Identity Card, and certified copies of academic and professional certificates.

Applications can be submitted either physically or online. Physical submissions should be addressed to the Chairperson at KEMSA's National Supply Chain Centre in Nairobi. Alternatively, online applications can be sent via email to recruitment@kemsa.go.ke.

At the same time, the National Council for Persons With Disabilities (NCPWD) has announced vacancies for an Administrative Director of Human Resources and Administration and a Senior Records Manager Assistant. Qualified candidates should submit their resumes by June 10. More details are available on the Council's website, www.ncpwd.go.ke.

Meanwhile, the Bandari Maritime Academy is seeking to recruit two coxswains and a trainer in Nautical Science. Applicants must complete an online application form available on the Academy's website. After completing the form, candidates must email a detailed CV, a copy of their national identification, and academic certificates (including Secondary Education and professional certificates) in PDF format as one document to recruitment@bma.ac.ke by 5 p.m. on June 11.
