United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malala on Wednesday ordered several politicians within the party including Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi to cease their attacks against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua or have disciplinary action taken against them.

In a statement, the Secretary-General also censured Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, presumably because of his tough political stance threatening Mt. Kenya action against President William Ruto's UDA camp over Gachagua's alleged isolation in the ruling party.

Malala, who had just jetted back into the country from China, also issued a warning to Cabinet Secretaries Kipchumba Murkomen of Transport, Moses Kuria of Public Service, and Aisha Jumwa of Gender directing them to cease political activity per the law.

The UDA Party SG expressed how unsettled he was by how a section of elected leaders in the party conducted themselves. He noted that the leaders overtly disparaged DP Gachagua.

"My attention has been drawn to the fact that certain individuals continue to show blatant disrespect to the party leadership, including the Presidency," he said adding that the behavior was unacceptable and would not be tolerated within the realms of the UDA party.

Malala went ahead and issued a stern warning to the leaders ordering them to desist from such actions with immediate effect.

He stated that if the leaders persisted with such vices, stern action would be taken against them.

Similarly, Malala did not hide how hot he was under the collar by the fact that Cabinet Secretaries Kipchumba Murkomen of Transport, Moses Kuria of Public Service and Aisha Jumwa of Gender were engaging in political activities. According to the law, Cabinet Secretaries need to remain apolitical.

He specifically singled out the Cabinet Secretaries involved and reiterated that if they wished to engage in politics, they should resign and join the political arena.

Malala took the opportunity to also advise the young politicians within UDA who have begun their campaigns for 2032 to halt the activities, saying that their current mandate should be to serve their respective constituents.

He continued: "Early campaigns not only distract you from responsibilities but also disrespects the trust placed in you by the electorate."

Emphasizing the importance of party discipline and respect for hierarchy, which he termed as "sacrosanct," Malala pointed out that any form of indiscipline would not be tolerated within the ranks of the UDA party.

"We must uphold the values and principles that guide our party to ensure that we deliver on our promises to the Kenyan people," he stated.
