Nairobi Governor, Johnson Sakaja on Wednesday became the latest United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leader to take a swipe at a fellow party member.
Speaking during a UDA Delegates Conference held in Nairobi, Sakaja indirectly hit out at the Deputy President referring to him as a bully.
He further remarked that the DP was not justified to protest over his recent tribulations since he had meted out the same treatment to other politicians for the last two years.
Sakaja in his speech referenced Gachagua's declaration where the second in command revealed that he had retreated to the Mount Kenya Forest to pray over the State of the Nation at a time when speculation was rife that he was maintaining a low profile after allegedly falling out with President William Ruto.
“You can not be bullying people for two years in every county and now that you have been trending for a week you are crying and you have gone to the forests,” stated Sakaja.
"Bullies are the biggest cowards!’ Sakaja added
Sakaja further defended his record as Nairobi Governor claiming that the reason why he had been on the receiving end from a lot of politicians since taking over power was because he was effecting meaningful change and had sealed corruption loopholes that were being exploited in the past.
The Governor further explained that he had embarked on a plan to unite the county through winning over opposition MCAs to have them back his agenda.
Sakaja, a former Nairobi Senator, also praised President Ruto revealing that the Head of State had advised him and mentored him as he went about uniting the county.
The remarks made by Sakaja came hours after the UDA Secretary General Cleopas Malala wrote a latter to Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba and Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga directing them to tone down their political rhetoric.
On the one hand, Sudi and Wamuchomba had made comments widely perceived to be attacks on DP Rigathi Gachagua.
Kahiga, on the other, was warned for his tough talk declaring support for Gachagua.
However, hours after writing the letter Sudi and Kahiga, in separate posts fired back at Malala stating that he was not fit to be UDA Secretary General.
