"In partnership with Kenya’s national government and county authorities, it runs 18 kitchens that source ingredients locally and employ locals, more than half of whom are parents. But for Njiru, feeding the children attending Nairobi’s public schools is just the start.

"In pursuit of its goal to feed 1 million kids each day by 2027, and 3 million by 2030, Food4Education plans to expand into other African countries interested in improving nutrition to bolster children’s school performance," the publication noted in its ranking.

Currently, Food4Education partners with the county governments of Nairobi and Murang'a to offer food at a discounted fee.

For instance, in Nairobi schools, students pay Ksh5 for the meals.

“We’re creating the blueprint for scalable, replicable, and cost-efficient school feeding across Africa,” Njiru stated.

Notably, the Kenyan company was ranked among elite companies such as Google and Amazon.

Other companies that made it to the 2024 list include Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Disney, Bank of America, Airbus, Airbnb, Toyota, and Airbnb.

Open AI which is behind products such as Chat GPT was also recognised among the top 100 firms in the world.

"TIME100 Companies is more than an index of business success. It is an argument for what business influence looks like in 2024. At a time when leadership in other sectors is battered, surveys suggest that many look to corporate leaders first for direction," read the statement in part.
