The Meteorological Department has issued weather updates for the period running between June 12 and June 16, forecasting fairly dry conditions in most parts of the country.
According to the latest update, despite the anticipated dry conditions, rainfall is expected in a few areas in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley.
Nairobi and the highlands East of the Rift Valley such as Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, and Kiambu, are also expected to experience rain showers in the afternoons during the specified period.
However, most mornings within the four days shall be warm and sunny especially in the Eastern Highlands.
Further, the Met Department revealed that there shall be intermittent cold and cloudy conditions during the nights across the country.
As for the Coastal region, the weatherman stated there is a possibility for areas in these regions to experience strong southerly to south-easterly winds.
Intermittent cold and cloudy conditions are expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands such as Kisumu, Homabaya and Bungoma.
As for temperatures, Kenya Met stated that there would be low temperatures of up to 7 degrees in Kiambu and other highlands.
Nairobi is also expected to experience similar low temperatures such as the Kiambu and Eastern highlands.
However, the Northeastern counties are expected to experience high temperatures of up to 37 degrees celsius.
Earlier on, the Met department through an advisory dated June 8, had predicted weekend rains in four regions: the Highlands East, the West of Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley.
Additionally, the Met Department had maintained that there would be extremely cold nights in Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka.
