On Tuesday, June 25, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) released a list of 18 approved institutions offering aviation courses in the country.
Among the listed institutions is the KQ Pride Centre, operated by Kenya Airways. The institution is based in Embakasi.
Additionally, the East African School of Aviation, Kenya School of Flying, Standards Aviation, Flight Training Centre, and Ninety-Nines Flying School were included in the list.
Other approved institutions mentioned by KCAA are Proactive Air Services, Aerolink Training Centre, Kenya Aeronautical College Flying School, Aernsafe Africa Consultants, Nairobi Flight Training, and Westrift Aviation LTD.
Capital Connect Aviation Supplies, Pegasus Flyers (EA) LTD, Think Aviation Training, Flitestar Academy, Mount Kenya Flight School and Global Quality and Safety Solutions LTD were also listed.
Notably, most of the institutions are based in Wilson Airport, Malindi Airport, Nayuki and Eastlands in Nairobi.
On the other hand, KCAA also listed the respective courses that are offered in the 18 institutions and they include Private Pilot Licence (PPL).
Other courses are Commercial Pilots Licence (CPL), Airline Transport Pilots Licence (ATPL), Instrument Rating (IR), and Flight Operations Officer/ Flight Dispatch (FOO).
Other listed courses were Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licence (AMEL) and Flight Instructors Rating (FIR).
KCAA is the body which is tasked with regulating and overseeing aviation safety, security and training aviation personnel.
"In order to maintain a high level of competence within the Kenyan aviation industry, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority publishes a list of Approved Training Organisations (ATOs) twice every year," KCAA explained.
