The Kenya Meteorological Department has urged Kenyans to brace for extremely cold nights of up to 5°C for the next couple of days.
In his weather forecast, Kenya Met boss David Gikungu told Kenyans that several parts of the country would have abnormally extreme temperatures for the next five days.
The weather department also stated that some parts of the country would similarly experience very high daytime temperatures of up to 36°C.
Among the regions that were forecasted to experience very cold nights of up to 5°C include the Highlands East of the Rift Valley which encompasses Nairobi County.
Counties in the above region include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka.
According to Gikungu, temperatures in these areas for the first two days would hit 8°C with temperatures for the last three days expected to drop to 5°C.
Similarly, in the Northwestern region of Turkana and Samburu Counties, temperatures during the day were projected to rise to a maximum of 36°C.
Other counties that were urged to brace for extreme temperatures are Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo with Gikungu noting such areas would similarly experience day temperatures of 36°C.
Intermittent cool and cloudy conditions were also expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Rift Valley.
Meanwhile, rainfall was expected over some parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley and the Coast.
Counties to experience rains include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot.
"Strong southerly to south-easterly winds with speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.9 m/s) are expected over some parts of the Coast, the South-eastern lowlands, North-eastern and North-western Kenya," Kenya Met announced.
