Former Nandi Hills MP, Alfred Keter on Monday disclosed that he was interrogated on his relationship with former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua after he was arrested on Sunday.

Speaking as he presented himself at the Directorate of Criminal investigations (DCI) headquarters, Keter revealed that the police quizzed and asked him whether he played any role in trafficking arms to Congo as law enforcement authorities suspected him of doing.

“When I was arrested, I was asked about my relationship with former President Uhuru Kenyatta and my relationship with the current Deputy President, Keter stated.

However, Keter was adamant that the reason behind his dramatic arrest was his stand on the anti-Finance Bill protests that have been taking place in the country.

He maintained that the arrest was an intimidation tactic following his sharp criticism of the government in the recent past.

“Let us follow the rule of law but generally, do not intimidate us into silence," he added.

Keter further accused the Kenya Kwanza government of failing to keep it's promises to the Kenyan people which were made during the campaign period.

The former legislator also accused the government of misrepresenting facts to the Kenyan people, which he summed up as indifference to what Kenyans truly feel.

His sentiments follow a dramatic arrest that sparked public outrage as officers forcefully enforced his arrest on Sunday by ejecting him from his SUV.

As Keter was being arrested, his family was shocked by the turn of events with some of them being forced to scream.

The politician and his family were coming from church.

However, later on Sunday evening the DCI confirmed the arrest citing that the former MP had been on their radar on charges related to trafficking arms and incitement for violence.

President William Ruto during a roundtable interview on Sunday night further confirmed the arrest stating that the police conducted the arrest following Keter's failure to adhere to summons by law enforcement authorities.
