The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has unearthed an emerging trend of Kenyans being targetted by drink spikers following the arrest of two ladies in Nairobi.
In a statement, the DCI revealed that there was an increasing trend where drink spikers at bars and clubs were targeting gun holders.
The DCI revealed that the ladies often charm their way to reach a gun holder and spike their drink.
Once the gun holder passes out, DCI reported that the ladies often take away the firearm and give it out to their accomplices in various gangs in parts of the city.
DCI noted that this trend was witnessed following the arrest of two ladies associated with gangs in Umoja 3 and Huruma.
"The gang's 40th day came racing when forensic analysis gave away the two women in whose rented house in Kayole were found 15 rounds of ammunition.
"Upon interrogation, they led the officers to Umoja 3 where their suspected two male accomplices were nabbed, before proceeding to Huruma kwa Chege where a fifth suspect was arrested," DCI added.
Another stint operation was conducted in Kiamaiko where two pistols (Ceska and Falcon) and three live rounds were recovered.
According to the DCI one of the firearms recovered during the operation belonged to a police officer.
"Preliminary investigations have so far revealed that the Ceska pistol was robbed from an inspector of police based at Mowlen Police Station in Kamukunji on June 17, 2024, when he was accosted by members of the gang at night," read the statement in part.
Following the successful operation, DCI noted the six suspects were booked at a police station with investigations ongoing into the operation.
A ballistic analysis is also expected to be conducted with the report forming part of the evidence to be produced in court.
