The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) on Thursday informed motorists to expect temporary traffic disruption at the Haile Selassie roundabout on Uhuru Highway A8 Road between Saturday, August 31 and Tuesday, October 15.
According to the Authority, the anticipated traffic disruption is attributable to the planned construction of a pedestrian underpass at the section.
In its advisory, KeNHA advised motorists planning to use the route to approach the section with caution. During this entire period, police and traffic marshals will be deployed to control the flow of traffic.
The agency further listed alternative routes motorists can use; drivers using the Upper Hill- Mombasa Road- Waiyaki Way stretch were directed to divert to Green Park.
Similarly, motorists plying the Waiyaki Way- Mombasa Road route were directed to use the diversion at Rubis Petrol Station.
Meanwhile, vehicles from the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) were advised to use the diversion at Ring Road located behind the Neno Evangelism Church.
However, the Authority noted that motorists travelling from Nairobi CBD and heading to Upper Hill would not be disrupted by the road works.
KeNHA's advisory comes barely two months after the Authority closed the same road at the University of Nairobi Roundabout and the Nairobi Expressway for ten days.
According to the roads agency, the closure was necessary to allow for maintenance works.
Motorists were similarly urged to approach the affected section with caution to avoid hindering the repair works.
"Follow the traffic signs and guidance in place as directed by police and traffic marshals on site," KeNHA noted.
"The Authority remains committed to ensuring seamless connectivity to facilitate safe passage for economic prosperity."
