Moi University students on Tuesday stormed the Eldoret Town to demonstrate against the new university funding model.
During the demonstrations, the furious students barricaded the Eldoret- Nakuru highway, causing a massive traffic snarl-up along the stretch.
The students were captured marching through the city streets as they hoisted huge placards in protest against the new funding model which they termed as discriminatory.
While demonstrating, the learners demanded an immediate intervention by the Ministry of Education failure to which they would continue with their demonstrations.
In the videos obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, the students were seen strolling within the city streets as they blew whistles to compel the government into action.
The students who were in the company of their leaders, accused the government of imposing the new funding model on them without their input.
Police officers were forced to intervene and urged to protesting students to avoid disrupting normal business activities within the city.
The Tuesday protests by Moi University students come a day after learners from at least five tertiary institutions staged demonstrations to protest the new model.
Among the university students who demonstrated on Monday include those from Kenyatta, Pwani, Mt Kenya Universities and those from the Technical University of Mombasa.
During the demonstrations, the students accused their leaders of having been compromised to call off the planned strike against the funding model.
On Sunday, September 8, a section of student leaders held a presser announcing their decision to call off the planned protests that were scheduled for Monday, September 9.
The student leaders claimed that the unanimous decision was reached to allow the nation to mourn the 21 pupils who perished in a tragedy at Hillside Endarasha Academy in Nyeri.
