Fire broke out at Isiolo Boys High School on Tuesday evening three days after a dormitory was razed down at Isiolo Girls, adding to the growing list of schools where fire has been reported in the last one week.

The Kenya Red Cross, in a statement announced response teams had already been activated to respond to the matter.

Videos obtained by Kenyans.co.ke depicted smoke billowing from the learning institution. Passersby were depicted watching in disbelief as property of unknown value went up in smoke.

By the time of publishing this article, the cause of the fire was yet to be established. The extent of the damage was also unclear.

On Saturday, fire broke out at Isiolo Girls which is located near Isiolo Boys. "A fire incident has been reported at Isiolo Girls High School, Isiolo County. Response teams activated," the Kenya Red Cross revealed in a post.

The latest incident could give credence to the hypothesis that the fires are premeditated cases of arson.

This is instructive considering that fire incidents were reported at Yemit Boys High School on Monday evening. A few hours later, on Tuesday morning another fire incident was reported at Father Makewa School in Machakos County.

This comes even as the country enters its third day of nationwide mourning after President Ruto directed flags be flown at half mast to honour the lives of victims who perished at Hillside Endarasha School in Nyeri County last week.

The president has already ordered security agencies to speed up investigations into the cause of widespread fire incidents at schools across the country.

"Compliance with government regulations on curbing fire accidents in learning institutions is not negotiable. This is the only insurance we have to effectively prevent the loss of life and limb in schools,"

"Security agencies must speed up investigations on the Hillside Academy fire tragedy and all other affected institutions," the Head of State posted on September 10 after receiving a report from the Ministry of Education on the fire incident at Hillside Endarasha.

Security agencies are expected to submit their findings to President Ruto in due course.
