Kenya has shown marginal improvement in the latest rankings by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).

In its report published on Thursday, September 19, Kenya rose to position 102, up from its previous position of 108 with an improvement of 11.23 points.

FIFA's latest ranking showed Kenya's basis points at 1208.96 from the previous ranking where it stood at 1197.73.

The latest ranking marks the country's steadiest rise compared to the past five years even as Kenya edges toward the top 50 position globally.

The best ranking FIFA has ever placed Kenya was position 68, which was way back in 2008, while the worst position the country has ever clinched was 137 in 2007.

Comparatively, Kenya's East African peers, Uganda and Tanzania were ranked positions 90 and 110 respectively.

Meanwhile, Somalia, Burundi, Rwanda, and South Sudan were ranked position 102, 136, 130, and 172.

The announcement by the global footballing body comes amidst Kenya's incredible form in the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

During its recent match with Nambia, Kenya returned on track with a 2-1 win at the Orlando Stadium in South Africa. The performance saw Kenya move to the top of the pool.

Kenya's current form comes hardly a month after Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen pledged to reform the Football Kenya Federation.

The CS who spoke during his vetting at the National Assembly for the current position, Murkomen stated that those who had served for more than eight years in the federation would forced to step down.

“We will not finance any federation that does not follow the Sports Act & carry out elections. They either agree to what we say or we 'greet' them,” Murkomen noted.
