The suspect is alleged to have engaged in an altercation with his ex-wife at a car wash in the Valley Bridge area of Kiamaiko in Huruma, Nairobi.

At the height of the altercation, the suspect picked a stone and knocked her ex-wife on the head.

A colleague aged 29 years who was in the vicinity tried to quell the arguments between the two only to be fatally attacked by the suspect.

It is alleged that the suspect drew a dagger and stabbed the second victim in the neck leaving him lifeless.

“In an attempt to calm the situation, (the deceased) intervened, only for the suspect to brandish a dagger which he drew through his neck,” DCI added.

As colleague painfully slid to his death, the suspect vanished with the murder weapon which is part of the evidence sought by the detectives.

The death of the suspect was confirmed at Huruma Nursing Hospital where good Samaritans had rushed him.

The case was picked up by DCI after it was reported at the Huruma Police Station. The detectives are now piecing up crucial leads to arrest the suspect.

The incident came barely a day after DCI detectives arrested the first suspect in another murder case of Human Resources Manager Willis Ayieko who was found dumped in a stream in Gem, Siaya County.

The latest statistics from the National Police Service (NPS) released on Thursday indicated a slight increase in murder cases in the country. According to the service, in 2024, 339 murder cases were reported compared with 336 cases in 2023 and 341 cases in 2022 for the same period.
