Several people were left nursing serious injuries after an accident occurred on Thursday, October 31, involving a passenger bus and a trailer.
The accident, which took place along the Bungoma-Malaba Road, saw the Royal Liner passenger bus veer off the road into the guard rails.
Images and videos obtained by Kenyans.co.ke revealed the extent of the damage to the bus with a considerable portion of its back mangled up into a wreck.
A trailer behind the bus at the accident scene was also badly damaged on the front side, possibly indicating it had rammed into the passenger bus.
In a statement, Royal Liner Express confirmed that at least two people sustained injuries from the incident and were rushed to a nearby medical facility.
"We regret to confirm that one of our buses destined for Malaba from Mombasa was this morning involved in an accident less than 5kms from Malaba town," the company said.
According to the bus company, the trailer rammed into the rear of the bus after experiencing brake failure.
The accident took place barely 24 hours after another fatal crash hundreds of miles away involving a lorry and a personal car.
Several people lost their lives in the Ndarugo Area in Thika, Kiambu County after a lorry collided with a private Nissan car.
The lorry, which overturned, caused a major traffic snarl-up on the busy highway with witnesses at the crash site revealing that the lorry pressed down on the personal car, crushing it into a wreckage.
