The National Police Service (NPS) has launched a manhunt for a suspect linked to the attempted murder of a lover in the Kiamunyi area of Nakuru County.
In a statement issued on Saturday, November 23, the NPS urged Kenyans with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect to avail the details at the nearest police station.
According to the officers, on Friday, November 22, a report of attempted murder against a woman was made at Kiamunyi Police Post in Nakuru after she was found with several stab wounds.
Preliminary investigations established that the victim was attacked by her boyfriend, who is also her business associate. The incident happened at their rental house following domestic wrangles.
Reports by witnesses reveal the woman, who is the co-director of the land-selling company owned by the duo in Nakuru, was attacked by her boyfriend, with whom she bore two children. The incident took place on the evening of Thursday, November 21.
Moments before the attack, the duo had met to discuss co-parenting issues. At the time of the meeting, the two had separated and stopped living together due to an ongoing dispute where the woman accused the man of orchestrating her arrest.
"The two held their meeting smoothly, however, things turned astray when the girlfriend was about to get out of the man’s gate. "No sooner had Flo arrived at her apartment gate, she was hit on the head and stabbed severally," revealed witnesses.
Luckily, the woman was saved by the apartment's watchman, who rushed her to the hospital. While confirming the incident, the police noted the woman had been admitted to a hospital in serious condition.
“She is currently admitted to a hospital in serious condition. This matter is pending the arrest of a known person, with OCS Menengai dealing. Efforts are underway to arrest the suspect,” noted a police report.
“Meanwhile, we call upon the said suspect to present himself at the nearest police station or police officer. We are also appealing to any member of the public with information that may lead to his arrest to inform the nearest police station,” the officers added.
The incident comes barely hours after Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru joined the victim's family in seeking justice for the woman. While condemning the act, Waiguru stated that attack was never the solution to domestic squabbles.
"Whatever the disagreement, we should never resort to violence. Gender-based violence has no place in our society. I call on investigative authorities to apprehend the perpetrator and ensure justice is served. I also pray for Shiku’s healing and quick recovery," Waiguru stated.
