Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru has joined a Nakuru family in seeking justice after a case of domestic violence left their kin nursing serious injuries.
The governor condemned the attack against the woman advising that violence is never the answer to dispute.
"Whatever the disagreement, we should never resort to violence. Gender-based violence has no place in our society," the Governor said.
In the heartbreaking turn of events of a love that turned sour, the woman's lover is the main suspect.
According to reports, the woman, who is the co-director of a land-selling company in Nakuru, was attacked on Thursday evening by a man with whom they nurtured a relationship and shared two children.
The woman and her lover enjoyed a peaceful relationship that culminated in investing and opening a business together. However, over time the relationship started falling apart.
Following the dispute, the lover come business partner arranged for her arrest by the DCI under claims that she had stolen the company car she was driving.
She was arrested and locked up for the weekend until her lover agreed to drop the charges.
The latest incident occurred on Thursday evening after the two met to discuss a co-parenting arrangement. Due to ongoing disputes, the woman had moved out and stopped reporting to the office.
The meeting proceeded smoothly, and the two parted amicably. However, things took a turn for the worse as soon as the woman got home.
"No sooner had Flo arrived at her apartment gate, she was hit on the head and stabbed severally, while protecting her head, she was stabbed on her arm and some of her fingers chopped off," read a post by Usikimye, a Non-Governmental Organization against gender-based violence.
She was saved by the apartment watchman who rushed her to the hospital, where the suspect showed up with a shirt splattered with blood insisting on seeing her. The hospital management, however, denied his request.
The family is now seeking intervention as the culprit is yet to be arrested, and boasts of having connections that will block his arrest.
Governor Waiguru has called on investigative authorities to apprehend the perpetrator and ensure justice is served.
