Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi on Wednesday, January 15, hit out at Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi after an expose that unearthed the government official behind abductions in the country.

In a statement, Sudi lashed out at CS Muturi, accusing him of clinging to political relevance and questioning the timing of his decision to expose the facts surrounding enforced disappearances in Kenya.

“This desperate move, made now that your political career has waned, is a clear blackmail attempt,” Sudi remarked.

“The timing is highly suspicious, revealing a cowardly man clutching at straws for political expediency,” he added.

Sudi, also questioned the motive behind the abduction of Muturi’s son at the height of the June-August Gen Z-led protests claiming that they were 'agemates'.

“In regards to your son's woes, who is my age mate, kwani alishikwa bure?? (was he caught in vain?)” Sudi quipped.

CS Muturi attracted nationwide attention after shedding light on the inner workings of the government, particularly regarding the spate of alleged abductions in the country. He claimed that the National Intelligence Service (NIS), under the leadership of Director General Noordin Haji, was behind the abductions of Kenyans.

He laid these facts bare while recording a statement at the Kilimani Police Station on Tuesday, January 14. Muturi had earlier hit out at the government over his son’s abduction stating that minimum effort was made in regards to the discovery of his son’s whereabouts.

In his explosive 3-page statement, Muturi revealed that it took a personal meeting with President William Ruto to finally ascertain the whereabouts of his son, Leslie Muturi. This followed a strenuous operation led by Muturi, which included reaching out to former Inspector General Japhet Koome, former Interior CS Kithure Kindiki, Interior PS Raymond Omollo, and Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) director Kiprotich Mohamed, all of which proved futile.

According to the CS, he openly speculated to Ruto that the NIS was holding his son, though the President was initially apprehensive. Muturi disclosed that Ruto confronted Noordin Haji on whether the NIS was involved in Leslie's abduction.

"Noordin confirmed that indeed, he was holding my son, and the President ordered him to release my son immediately. Noordin responded that Leslie would be released within an hour," Muturi's explosive statement continued.

Sudi’s rebuttal of Muturi added him to a growing list of Kenya Kwanza leaders who have criticised the CS for going public with his son’s abduction.

Aldai MP Marianne Kitany on January 14 called for Muturi’s resignation threatening a censure motion against the CS if he did not step down. Muturi has remained unbowed, urging the lawmakers to proceed with any impeachment motion that they might have in the pipeline.
